Services

Whilst the exact relationship and accountability varies from client to client, the core service typically consists of the following:

 

Full involvement in all aspects of the strategic decision making of the business.

The provision of advice to the owners/directors on many day to day aspects of the business in addition to finance.

Production of (or supervision in the production of) regular management accounts and supporting commentary and information.

The development of both weekly and monthly cash monitoring and forecasting tools.

The establishment of a close working relationship with directors, relevant employees, external accountants and other advisers.

Despite the close relationships described above, ability to stand back from the day to day detail and pose difficult, challenging and stimulating questions.

 

pHFD's concrete achievements to date include:

·        The division and implementation of a demerger of a family owned care business to prevent continuing family disputes.

·        Instillation of the necessary financial disciplines and controls in a family owned £1m turnover PR business to enable continuing bank support to be obtained.

·        Management of the selection and implementation of Sage and Xero at two different clients. Supervision of the subsequent development of associated systems and procedures in order to support the business needs.

·        Advice for in-house bookkeepers in a number of clients in the more effective use of Sage, Xero and Quickbooks to facilitate more reliable and timely management reporting.

·        Help for a business in the care sector to improve financial awareness and understanding and save significant accountancy and other costs.

·        Production of short and medium term budgets and forecasts for a wide range of clients for a variety of different purposes. These forecasts have been prepared both for business owners to assist in their understanding of the business and potential lenders to aid decision making.

·        Advice for an executive search client with turnover of £7m on the optimal means of extracting funds in the most tax efficient way from a complex legal structure. Development of a Transfer Pricing methodology to support the proposal.

·        Establishment of a full set of financial and business processes for an IT company immediately following the receipt of £3m VC funding.

·        Advice for a German company on the establishment of a UK entity. Direction of the implementation of the ‘support’ aspects of the project and the ongoing business.

·        Leading the directors of an engineering business through the development of strategies to enable them to exploit opportunities and mitigate threats.

·        Help for the directors of this same engineering business through a solvent liquidation when they chose to close the business.

·        Assisted an electronics manufacturer in the purchase and integration of a French supplier.

·        Enabled the successful disposal of a children’s events business from a group of three businesses.
